For the College to remain a leader in teaching and research, we must attract and retain the best faculty. Competition over leading faculty candidates is strong, and it is difficult to secure the necessary resources from within the University.

The College is placing particular effort in fostering interdisciplinary environmental research that spans the breadth of expertise in the College, both because of its importance to our society and its scientific challenges.
